PHIL HALL
Phil Hall’s work explores the relationships between line, shape, colour and composition. These varied and often-complex communication methods help to draw the viewer in. His work falls somewhere between Paul Noble and Robert Crumb. He also enjoys using his visual language as a catalyst for his own narrative and uses this to create content and explore where that can take the work.
His latest work explores the ideas of world building, whereby creating imaginary places, events and characters are used as a form of escapism. The simple opening of a mouth such as in "cavity" invites you delve in and have a peep.
Phil Hall studied illustration at Middlesex University (BA Hons 2000 and postgraduate diploma 2003), in 2005 he obtained an MA (with distinction) in Communication Design in Illustration from Central St Martin's School of Art.
He has since worked on his own projects (creating pictures and a short graphic story) as well as several commissions for the Guardian G2.
