Night Train monoprint Tom Hammick
A rare early mono print or monotype by Tom Hammick in 2004.
Night Train is a unique print, 41 x 33 cm (framed size 47 x 38 cm).
This print was first exhibited in 2005 at Flowers Gallery in their Tom Hammick New Prints exhibtion, it was then acquired later by Zimmer Stewart Gallery.
At the same time as this monoprint, Tom Hammick created an etching with aquatint in an editon of 25, the image is similar to the monotype which preceded it.
Among the many awards Tom Hammick has received are: in 2005 the RA Print Prize and in 2007 the monoprint prize at Originals 09
Night is a common theme for Hammick that he returns to often in different mediums (etching, painting and monotype). The compositions often show figures looking into the darkness.
His 2004 Space Station etching with aquatint shows the space station in a starry dark sky; Path, a reduction woodcut shows a lit path up to a night sky with moon.
