Fucking Hell (burned) by Jake & Dino Chapman

This book is a catalogue for an exhibition by Jake and Dinos Chapman at the White Cube art gallery.
 
The nine part diormama artwork titled 'Fucking Hell' took the artists four years to make, and the book was an important document for the work beyond the lifespan of the exhibition.
 
As well as showing the epic scale of the work, the book highlights some of the amazing detail and narrative involved in the scenes.
 
Each book was individually burnt – as well as the obvious reference to the fires of Hell, this refers to the first Hell sculpture destroyed in a warehouse fire, plus the book burning that took place during the Nazi era. The fonts used are from this period and the endpapers are made from reversed swastikas.
 
First edition, first impression, number 86 of 500 copies signed and numbered by the Chapman brothers.
 
This work was published to coincide with their exhibition "If Hitler Had Been a Hippy How Happy Would We Be?" at the White Cube Gallery, London, 30 May - 12 July 2008.
 
Original red cloth, illustrated throughout, lettering to front cover and spine in black, burnt and singed to the front cover and edges with a blow torch as issued by the Chapman brothers.
 
No dust jacket issued. In good condition
