Adding contemporary artworks sets the mood at The Penthouse, 190 The Strand, London.
Zimmer Stewart Gallery curator, James Stewart, was asked by Haymarket Press to select and place artworks in this amazing Penthouse apartment for Berkeley Homes. The pieces chosen had to match the incredible 360 degree views of many of London's best known iconic landmarks, not to mention the architect designed living space. James chose paintings by Phil Tyler and Nick Bodimeade, the SS Portfolio of eight etchings by Sir Terry Frost RA, bold abstract ceramics by Dylan Bowen and a large figurative bronze on an oak base by Christopher Marvell. "I like to work with artists who have an interesting way of looking at things" said James Stewart. "Choosing an artwork is often an emotional decision" he continued "At a basic level, people will consider a painting becuase it goes with the sofa in their living room, but most people have a more instinctive, gut reaction to the painting, ceramic or sculpture. It means something to them: It reminds them of a trip or a person or it could be just to celebrate a moment in time". You can see the fully illustrated article below.
