Puzzle Jug (2012) by John Leach
A rare contemporary version of the Puzzle Jug, popular in the 18th century by this master potter.
Turned altered jug with three drinking spouts and several holes around the top, with inscribed text.
Unless you hold the jug correctly, covering the right holes you will spill the drink instead of drinking it!
The text around the edge is a unique poem, based on the traditional form:
'Here Gentleman come try your skill
I'll bold a wager if you will
That you don't drink this liquor all
without a spil or let some fall'
17 cm high, woodfired, glazed stoenware form.
