South Stoke Idyll - A View from a Barn

Zimmer Stewart Gallery present a unique exhibition and talk at South Stoke in collaboration with The Sussex Snowdrop Trust and farmer, Ryan Haydon.

Local artists, Matt and Nick Bodimeade, both of whom worked on the farm as teenagers, and Emma Hurst will be exhibiting in the historic granary barn in the tranquil hamlet of South Stoke which is beyond the Black Rabbit pub, near Arundel. The art is inspired by the stunning landscape created by the need to provide food and now also to conserving the environment.

On Friday 24 May there will be an evening talk by farmer, Ryan Haydon, and artist/agriculturalist/researcher, Adam Stead on ‘Art and Agriculture’ with a panel discussion including artists, Matt and Nick Bodimeade and Emma Hurst. Enjoy a welcome drink and talk in aid of the local children’s charity, The Sussex Snowdrop Trust

Then on Sunday 26 May, A chance to view the exhibition with friends and family. Come by foot, bike or car and relax with your own picnic. Sussex Snowdrop Trust will be providing tea and cake for a donation. This will be an opportunity for all to visit South Stoke, see the exhibition and find out more about farming on the Downs.

Arundel Gallery Trail and Festival Exhibition at The Crypt Gallery

This year for the Gallery Trail we will exhibit just two artists: photographer, Elizabeth Zeschin and sculptor, Giles Penny.

Elizabeth Zeschin uses a hand made, large format camera. The negatives are printed using the 19th century Salted Paper method devised by Henry Fox Talbot. We will show a selection from her Endangered Species series, Parham House series and a series of cyanotypes and monotypes.

Giles Penny is well known in Arundel, and we will show a selection of his small a and medium sculptures.
