RICHARD DENNE

Having originally studied music at the London College of Music, Richard Denne completed a post graduate diploma then an MA in Printmaking from the University of Brighton, East Sussex.

Triggered by the lyrics “Damn this place......it makes a boy out of me” from The Boxer by Editors from their 2009 album “In This Light And On This Evening”, this series of prints by Richard Denne is vibrant with sexually charged physicality.

“I always wanted to be a cowboy” says the artist, who chose a different path seven years ago when he took a printmaking course at St Martin’s leading to his “wild card” acceptance on a post graduate diploma. Following this he completed an MA in Printmaking at the University of Brighton, East Sussex.

His work is based in mixed media, digital images and screen print, producing evocative images on brightly coloured backgrounds.Since his MA in 2002, Richard Denne has exhibited widely throughout the UK and his work is in several public, private and corporate collections including M&C Saatchi, The Centre for Fine Print Research and the University of the West of England.
