FELIX ANAUT

Felix studied at the L’ecole de Montparnasse d’Art et Dessin” in Paris in 1978-79, and has lived in Madrid, Tangier, Ibiza, England, Belfast. In 1986 he became a member of the Association of Irish Artists.  He currently lives in South West France.

In December 2003 Felix was awarded the "Career Recognition" award at the Florence Biennale 2003. in 2005 Felix Anaut was been listed by the Spanish national newspaper, El Mundo, in their annual year review as one of the most influential personalities in the Arts, 2005-2006.

For this exhibition he is showing for the first time a series of large VASE paintings, including one triptych, 1.6 x 3 metres. The works are a one off series, inspired from his collaboration with the art ceramicist, Liz Guy. The paintings technically bear a great resemblance to the artist's large scale black and white figurative work, however with a much softer tonality, using vibrant blue rather than black as the defining colour, contrasted with soft earth tones for the body of the vases. The final results are a series of work portraying a nearly surreal aspect, through the organic forms of the vases with their single flowers, further exemplified by the scale of the pieces.

He has exhibited widely since 1978 and has had many solo and group exhibitions in France, Ireland, Spain, Italy and the UK (Contact the gallery for a full list). During 2008 Felix Anaut's work will be shown at Market Place Arts Centre, Armagh, Ireland: The Tanneries, Nerac, France (solo show); Pintzel Gallery, Pamplona, Spain (solo show); Four Gallery, Moncuq, France (solo show); Participation, Seville Contemporary Art Fair (with Aroya Gallery), Seville, Spain.
