For our Festival and Gallery Exhibition this year we are showing drawings and some paintings by Yankel Feather.
Described by author & critic Peter Davies in his book "St Ives Revisited" Yankel Feather has "a lightness of touch and a fluency of colour that is French, even Renoir-esque in feeling".
He was a friend and correspondent of Terry Frost, who also encouraged him.
During the 1980's Yankel was in an enclave of artists with Rose Hilton and Bob Bourne. They were known for their natural colours at a time when genuine talent in Cornwall was thin on the ground.
At this time Yankel Feather exhibited at the Salthouse Gallery run by Bob Devereaux, who will perform his poetry on 27 August in front of the Gallery - see St Ives Comes to Arundel with Anthony Frost below.

Laura Carlin has won the V&A Illustration Award 2011 for Best Illustrated Book with Iron Man, written by Ted Hughes in the 1960's and re-issued by the Faber & Faber and Walker Books last year.
Laura was presented with her prize at an awards ceremony at the V&A Museum on 7 June. Laura’s artwork, along with the other winners, will be on display at the V&A until December.
The Book was praised by judges for "her sophisticated approach to colour and scale"
in what they said was "a stunning example of book illustration and
production".
This is the second award Laura Carlin has received for this work, following her Bologna Raggazzi earlier this year.
We have just one copy of the "Deluxe" limited edition of the Iron Man, which comes in a cloth box, has a uniqiue illustrated book plate and a print from the book.
