New Chris Keenan pieces

We have just received in a new range of Chris Keenan porcelain ceramics, including vases, beakers, creamers, bowls and of course the Rocking Bowls.

This has been a busy summer for Chris Keenan, he has prepared for four exhibitions, other than getting work to us.

He exhibited at the prestigious Origin Craft Fair, then Crafted at Decorex International 2011.

Thirdly, his work has been selected as one of just 24 potters from an open submission for the Award exhibition at the British Ceramics Biennial at Stoke on Trent.

Lastly, later this year his work will be included in Tablescapes at Talbot House.

So do make sure you get a chance to view his work here, now on display in the gallery.

Anthony Frost on BBC4

Anthony Frost was interviewed by Richard Wilson for BBC4's "Britains Best Drives" (episode 3 of 6), when the presenter visited Cornwall from St Ives to Lands End.

In the show Anthony Frost talks about what it was like growing up in St Ives in the 1950's. Apart from only needing shoes to got to school, he explains how the New York art world (de koonig, Rothko etc) all came to St Ives at this time to see the UK abstract art scene. Artists they came to see included Terry Frost, Patrick Heron and Barbara Hepworth.

You have just 5 days left to watch the episode on iPlayer.

Anthony Frost will be showing his new body of work: "Sublime Frequencies" here from 15 October, including paintings, works on paper and screenprints.

Hammick in Threadneedle Prize

We are pleased to announce that Tom Hammick's painting "Gallery Woman 2" (oil on linen, 81 x 102 cm) has been selected for this years Threadneedle Prize for painting and sculpture. Earlier this year two large works (a painting and a woodcut) by Tom Hammick were selected for the RA Summer Exhibition 2011.

This followed his exhibition here in Out of Drawing, in May.

Later this year he will enjoy a print residency in Beijing, then in 2012 Tom Hammick will be one of three significant British artists to be featured in an exhibition at Brighton City Museum and Art Gallery.

We have several etchings and woodcuts by Tom Hammick in stock, so do ask to see them next time you are in the gallery.

For the end of our mixed Summer show, we have now hung several new Nick Bodimeade paintings, including Guest 1 (see helicopter painting left, 168 x 68 cm) and some Beach scenes.

In addition we are showing works by Barbara Macfarlane, Katharine Le Hardy and Phil Tyler.

As always do ask to see works not on display; with our new store room very close by we can access many more works now than ever before.

Setting the Table

For this year's Arundel Food Festival from 15-23 October, we will be featuring ceramics by Nigel Lambert.

He says "My pots are not complete until they are arranged on a table set with food."

These bright colourful pieces are thrown on a wheel in earthenware, altered in shape, glazed in bright colours and then wood fired. The results are a range of unique pieces which work well on their own or simply complement other existing crockery.
