Northbrook College, Worthing is part of the University of Brighton, and has produced a number of good local artists two of whom show work with Zimmer Stewart Gallery: Stuart Slade and Maggie Tredwell.
We are pleased to announce the arrival in late June of a few sculptures by Stuart Slade in our garden, these will join work by Christopher Marvell and Lilia Umana Clarke.
Stuart's work is futuristic, sometimes paranoid and represents the human condition. The sculptures are made from mostly found materials.
There will also be some new pieces which will arrive just in time for the Arundel Festival and Gallery Trail in June, when we will also have a new body of work by Barbara Macfarlane.
Charming Baker, one of the print artists whoise work can be seen at ZS Editions, has just had a sellout show in New York. Damien Hirst was amongst the buyers of his paintings which all went on the preview evening along with many copies of his prints.
We showed his work at the recent London Original Print Fair at the Royal Academy with another exciting new artist Adam Koukoudakis, and will again as part of our "Surreal & Beyond - Summer Exhibition" starting on 5 June.
You can view and buy them now online at ZS Editions or just drop into the gallery.
This summer we are pleased to be able to introduce something completely new, and it is not often that we can say that!
Ann Sutton has produced a new way of "painting in space" and in so doing she has created her "Body Pieces" which are artworks that can be worn. From June 2010 these will only be available at the Zimmer Stewart Gallery.
The pieces, each of which is unique, include large pieces which can be worn over the shoulders, as shown in the adjacent image and also smaller pieces which are worn as brooches.
As Oscar Wilde said "One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art"
They will be on show in our "Summer Exhibition - Surreal and Beyond".
